Rocco (Quoc Anh) Ho
My name is Rocco Ho and I’m a photographer from Hanoi, Vietnam currently living in New York City. Throughout the course of my life, I learned to navigate the cultural differences and emotional turmoil of growing up privileged in Vietnam and moving abroad in New York City. I express such nuances of life through photography and confront those experiences with all the vulnerability, honesty and sincerity of a young man coming into the globalized world full of the unknown. My body of work is the reflections of those events of my life and I devoted myself to tell those stories with my passion and appreciation for the craft of photography. There are three distinct qualities that embody my work as a photographer: a cinematic eye, refined aesthetics, and a strong sense of human emotion—qualities shaped by both my academic and professional experience. Studying at an institution like Parsons with state of the art facilities and a diverse passionate creative community has deepened my understanding of photography as a means of exploring culture, identity, and belonging. Meanwhile, working and interning with the great Steven Klein sharpens my artistic vision and teaches me the intricacies of image-making from an elevated perspective of a seasoned master. All these encounters inform my artistic practice which is rooted in my own personal cultural expression of who I am in the world while strengthened by my dedication towards the craft of photography.
